problems compiling player-2.0-pre5

Torbjorn Dahl
Hello All

I am trying to get player to work on our brand spanking new Pioneer 3 AT.
I got player-1.6.1 to work just fine but I like keeping up with the times.

After a painless ./configure --prefix=$HOME --enable-p2os
I get the following:

Making install in p2os
make[4]: Entering directory `/home/tdahl/player-2.0-pre5/server/drivers/mixed/p2os'
make[4]: *** No rule to make target `libp2os.la', needed by `all-am'.  Stop.
make[4]: Leaving directory `/home/tdahl/player-2.0-pre5/server/drivers/mixed/p2os'
make[3]: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/tdahl/player-2.0-pre5/server/drivers/mixed'
make[2]: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/tdahl/player-2.0-pre5/server/drivers'
make[1]: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/tdahl/player-2.0-pre5/server'
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1

And right enough, the makefile does not specify how libp2os.la is to be made.

I know .la files have something to do with libtool...

Has anyone got a quick fix for this so that I don't have to learn all about autoconf, automake and libtool just yet?

Torbjorn

The release notes
(http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=355597)
state:

DO NOT USE THIS PACKAGE. It is for developer testing ONLY.

The version in CVS isn't quite ready yet for mass consumption, but
should be sometime in the future.

Best regards,

Brad

hi Torby!

Stick with the 1.6.x line for now (1.6.5 is the latest).  It'll be a
few weeks yet before 2.0 is stable.
