Hi,

Similar problems here and as usual ATI mobility behind them :(
I've tried both the released and the CVS versions and the latest ATI
driver but with no success.
It is working fine with GLX:
using display [:0.0]
rendering: [GLX offscreen] direct [no] RGBA [8 8 8 8] depth [24]
server id [0]
connecting to server
opening simulator interface
waiting for data

But when i try GLXP (or SGIX), i get this:
using display [:0.0]
error   : camera initialization failed: no rendering context
Initialization failed
server died

Any advice before i throw both the ATI card and the laptop away...?

ATI cards do not support pbuffers. Please read the documentation:

I had a similiar problem, but my problems were fixed when I changed the renderMethod in the world file.  Give this a try for ATI card users:

   <model:ObserverCam>
      5     <id>userCam0</id>
      6     <xyz>5.637 93.859 3.053</xyz>
      7     <rpy>-0 13 -39</rpy>
      8     <imageSize>640 480</imageSize>
      9     <updateRate>10</updateRate>
     10     <renderMethod>GLXP</renderMethod>
     11   </model:ObserverCam>

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt reply but i was referring to the GLXP mode which
is supposed to be working with ATI
(http://playerstage.sourceforge.net/doc/Gazebo-manual-0.5-html/gazebo_opengl.html)
but crashes gazebo in my configuration with the following error - camera
initialization failed: no rendering context. I can only use the GLX
method which is unfortunately very slow.
