New install : segmentation fault test.world

Can I get help with this seg fault - I'm no expert in linux and new to gazebo.
I've installed ODE 11.1 and OGRE 1.65 if that helps.

I'm not sure where to start with debugging this - test.world is straight out of svn

strange indeed. I get very different results on different world files:
* terrain opens up gazebo, but all i see is textured ground with a grid on it
* pioneer2dx.world opens up gazebo, but the graphics are too strange to describe well. I can tell that there is a robot, but I see a kind of silhouete of it and a lot of white dots .
* bumper.world opens up and shows me a rendered robot
* simplecar and wizbot seg fault, differently to the one previously posted as shown below

any suggestions?

Hello,

I've fixed a few things in the SVN version of gazebo. Could you try
fetching this, and run either simpleshapes.world or pioneer2dx.world
to start?

It seems your changes fixed the compiling problems but a small bug in
server/CMakeLists.txt:154.

While I do not have it (and it does not seem to be necessary) it tries to
link to lBulletDynamics. It compiles with the attached patch.

I now got a make error regarding bullet using revision 8504. I did a clean make, then deleted the cmake cache, reconfigured and tried to make.

I have bulletphysics 2-75 installed. I'll try to make without bullet and let you know what happens

My colleague 2 doors down and I got different results.
His pioneer worked fine. His simpleshapes caused an exception.
Both of mine ran, but I had the same black/white silhouette thing with pioneer, and simpleshapes isn't rendering correctly.

test.world gave the same trace that commenced this thread on my install.

Is the attached Ogre.log (from pioneer2dx.world) useful here? OGRELOG.txt

You need to recompile Bullet 2.75 with -DBT_USE_DOUBLE_PRECISION ( add
to CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS is one way ) to get rid of this error.

Some of the functions in Bullet using btScalar were compiled into the
library with floats and not doubles.

Hi,

In your very first test with "test.world", gazebo couldn't find test.stlb in
your gazebo resource path.  Can you post your world file?

couple of questions might help,

  * what graphics card and driver do you have installed?
  * what does "ode-config --cflags --libs" and return?
  * which cmake version are you using?

And lastly, can you do (assuming bash):
export VERBOSE=1
and post all the compile outputs from a clean checkout?

I previously attached a verbose make log and ogre log, but they weren't sent due to length (the previous attached file didn't work according to the archive). Hopefully these 2 attached files get through and work...

test.world is straight out of svn (as are all of the .worlds I mentioned here)
copied from /usr/local/share/gazebo/worlds to my work directory


~$ ode-config --cflags --libs
-I/usr/local/include -DdDOUBLE
-L/usr/local/lib -lode

cmake is 2.6.0

hm... which svn revision are you running?  I don't see a test.world in
r8513.  Are you sure this might not be a left over from previous
installations?

Thanks for the posts, can you remove

/usr/src/gazebo-svn/build

and repost make outputs?

Also, did you set the following environmental variables?
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/loca/lib:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}
export GAZEBO_RESOURCE_PATH=/usr/local/share/gazebo
export OGRE_RESOURCEPATH=[..where libOgreMain.so lives..]

I just checked out 8514 and am now building it.
I don't know if I'm supposed to do anything to remove files that are no longer current in svn. I've only run checkout. Sorry if thats a huge newbie error - but I've not seen other instructions. did I miss them?
